Preserve Their Voice is specifically designed to help hospices connect with families before hospice is needed, when they are more open to engagement, storytelling, and relationship-building. Families are naturally motivated to share stories and preserve memories. This creates a meaningful, low-pressure way for your organization to connect with them long before hospice care is needed.

The Preserve Their Voice app can be introduced to a family and patient by a caseworker, chaplain, volunteer, etc. The goal is to gently introduce this as a way the family and patient can support one another by sharing family history – while also preserving those stories. The hospice representative can help the family or patient use the app on their (family members’ or patient’s) device.

Yes! All of the Preserve Their Voice apps are branded to a sponsoring organization. Furthermore, a variety of complementary marketing materials (social media content, handouts, etc.) also help promote the program in your communities.

Yes! We will add custom links to your app. These can include links to any website content that you offer. Some examples of links include: Request an Assessment, Refer a Patient, Donate, etc. The best way to see the full functionality of the app is to view the demo (NO email, registration, or appointment required).

Yes! We can include your videos of staff within the app. Clients may choose to have videos from President/CEO, Medical Director, Chaplain, Development Director, Volunteer Coordinator, Social Worker, Nurse, etc.

Yes! Organizations on the Exclusive Plan will be able to choose their exclusive market area. Typically, this may be as small as a single county or as large as a group of counties.

Your market exclusivity will be clearly outlined in terms of geography (in most cases, based on county lines) as well as the names of your local competitors we will NOT work with.

We will always offer you several options for your market area. You can pick the market area and price that meets your goals.

Yes! When working with multi-location organizations, we focus on a market-by-market process. In some cases, we may not be able to provide you with the program based on previous market exclusive agreements. You can also pick and choose which markets you would like to invest in.

The system is priced as a flat, annual fee to the organization. Pricing is determined by 3 factors: 1) Size of Exclusive Market (if chosen), 2) Size of the Hospice (Based on ADC), & 3) Population of the Market Area.

The Core Plan is for hospices that focus on providing a simple way to help families preserve stories. It does not include market exclusivity.The Exclusive Plan is for hospices that want to be the exclusive provider in their market area. Learn more about Market Exclusivity below.

No. As long as your account is in good standing for that market area, we do not allow other organizations to bump or outbid you.

The best way is to simply contact us. We will tell you if the market is entirely open, if there are any Core Plans (non-exclusive) in the area, or if that market is taken. If it is available, we would be happy to provide you with a written market & pricing proposal.

We will provide you with a written quote that includes Core pricing and Exclusive pricing with at least 2 levels of market exclusivity. The proposal will clearly show your market exclusive options. This gives you several alternatives as you consider your goals and budget.

Pricing is based on a combination of several factors. As you might expect, a hospice in Dodge City, Kansas and one in Dallas, Texas will not pay the same price for market exclusivity.

Patient & Family Experience FAQs

The app can be shared through an email, social media post, QR code, a text message, or directly from a hospice employee or volunteer.

The app works on any device connected to the internet that has a microphone. This includes virtually all cell phones, tablets, desktop computers, & laptop computers.

NO. The app works immediately on any device connected to the internet. Users have the choice of downloading the app, but they are not required to. They can use it like a website if they choose to.

Users can share their stories with family members by attaching the recording to an email or text message. The individual has complete control over who receives the stories.

Hospices using the Exclusive Plan have a 10 minute limit per recording; those on the Core Plan have a 5 minute limit per recording. All plans include unlimited numbers of stories. For example, a family recording stories on the Core plan could record 200+ stories – but none of those individual recordings could be more than 5 minutes long.

No – If your organization chooses not to renew, families will retain any recordings saved on their devices.

We have designed the app with simple instructions, large buttons, and built-in video tutorials to make it as easy as possible. If a person can use a cell phone to access the internet, send texts, or use email, then they likely will have no problem using the app.
Privacy & Security FAQs

Preserve Their Voice is designed to be fully HIPAA-compliant and does not access, collect, or store any protected health information (PHI). While the app links to resources on your website, it operates independently and has no access to your patient data. The app also does not track users, store cookies, or retain personal information.

Recordings are stored on the user’s device (phone, tablet, etc.). Only individuals with access to that device can access the recordings unless they choose to share them.

No, the Troyer brothers and the sponsoring organization do not have access to the stories. We cannot hear them, we cannot download them; we have NO access to the recordings.
Note that this also means that we do NOT have a “copy” or database that can be accessed later if the user deletes or loses their copy of the recording. -
The patient/family owns the recording. Neither Preserve Their Voice nor the sponsoring hospice organization have any claim to the story.

Yes! In fact, we strongly recommend that you immediately share the stories by texting, emailing, or otherwise sharing the recordings among family members. We strongly recommend sharing recordings with multiple family members to ensure they are preserved and not lost if a device is damaged or replaced.

Never! We do NOT have access to the family’s name, email, phone numbers or any other identifying information. We do NOT have referral links in the app nor do we try to sell anything to the family or user.

We are a for-profit company – which means that we never request donations from the app users or anyone. Our only income is from the sponsoring hospice organization. However, we can include a button on your app that links to your hospice’s donation page on your website.
